Why I Became a Minimalist

Living with Less

Minimalism isn’t just a lifestyle for me—it’s a filter that shapes how I make decisions and prioritize what truly matters. Before embracing it, I tried buying happiness through endless online & store purchases. Spoiler: it didn’t work. Seeing my pile of unused clothes, accessories without a purpose shocked me into action 8 years ago, and that realization led to buying only things and clothes that I REALLY need—a way to name and tackle the impulse-driven habits that distracted me from my goals.

The “Minimalism” isn’t limited to shopping; it’s the constant phone-checking, endless scrolling, and mindless actions that pull us away from the life we want. Minimalism helped me overcome the distractions online and offline and embrace a life with more focus and intention to things and actions that I am passionate about.

What Minimalism Has Given Me

1. Greater Flexibility

Without payments tied to expensive or unnecessary things, I’ve gained freedom—freedom to experiment with new opportunities, travel, and live without financial strain. Minimalism has opened doors I didn’t think were possible before.

2. More Space, Less Clutter

Clearing physical, mental, and digital clutter created space for what truly matters. I’ve discovered a love for writing, pilates, enjoying simple everyday moments —something that once felt unattainable. Minimalism made room for those experiences that bring me true joy.

3. Simpler Wardrobe, Easier Life

After ditching 70% of my clothes, laundry became manageable. Gone are the days of overflowing hampers and wearing clothes I didn’t like. Now, my wardrobe is streamlined and easy to maintain, saving me time and stress.

4. Increased Confidence

Surprisingly, minimalism boosted my confidence. Letting go of unnecessary possessions helped me see that my worth isn’t tied to things. I’ve grown more decisive and empowered to live intentionally.

Finding Your Own Minimalism

Minimalism isn’t about deprivation; it’s about focusing on what aligns with your values and goals. It’s normal to feel intimidated by the concept, but minimalism simply means stepping off the hamster wheel of chasing things you don’t truly want.

With minimalism, you can create more space, time, and clarity to live a life of purpose and fulfillment. Trust me—it’s worth it.
